Earlier this season I wrote about a deck I thought would see significant play with Qi'ra Data Vault, but it seems like that deck has shifted back to a 30 Health Command base instead of Data Vault. Today we're talking about a similar deck that runs Command and Vigilance in Heroic with Rey Data Vault. Perhaps unexpectedly, this deck doesn't run a Force package despite being in some highly agreeable aspects for taking advantage of the Force token. The deck runs synergy with Jedi, Rebel, and even Spectre traits in a somewhat jumble of good cards that happen to run well together. Ultimately our goal is to make our 2 power bigger using Rey's ability and overrun the opponent.

The biggest weakness in our deck is running different types of synergy. While the majority of our deck is Rebels we also care about Spectre's for both Kanan and Ezra. Luckily, they're also Rebels which makes running Mon Mothma a no-brainer. However, our problem here is exacerbated by running an additional 10 cards with Data Vault. Thankfully we can also rely on Owen Lars and R2-D2 in the early game to dig through our deck for more of our missing pieces.
Running smaller units like this ends up to our benefit since Rey can make them bigger with Experience tokens. Village Protectors becoming a 3/3 with Sentinel and Shield is far more threatening to look down the table from. And even Yoda - Old Master getting an extra point of Health gives him more opportunities to Restore for you before he turns into card draw. Using this strategy makes us vulnerable to larger units and leaders like Anakin or Bo Katan who collect stat boosts for themselves to do minimal hits at maximum damage. Our answer to that is to survive longer using more Restore than we know what to do with, such as Yaddle, Moisture Farmer, and Owen.
Kelleran might be one of the best cards out of Legends of the Force since he runs such a big stat line, has the Force and Jedi traits, and brings in an ally from your deck at a discount in the same action. He provides action economy and resource discounts that prove his worth at 7 cost. Pairing him with Luke Skywalker - Jedi Knight as another large body with Restore and removal is arguably the best ground combo for this deck.
But we have a decent set up for the space arena as well. Blue Leader gives us some flexibility for either arena. Bright Hope, on the other hand, puts a big wall between your opponents TIE Fighters and your base. This steady ship also allows you to save a near death Village Protectors or return Ackbar, Mon Mothma, or other When Played effects to use it again. Finally, we get to Home One, which provides enough survivability to turn games around with Restore 2 and also giving each other unit you have Restore 1. Yaddle and Home One together can ensure your stable health for turns to come. But Home One also provides the ability to resurrect a unit from your discard pile at a discount. Now imagine Home One bringing you a Kelleran - talk about efficiency.
With tons of smaller units we can reliably play Spark of Hope along with Resupply to gain economic advantage. Be careful what you use Spark of Hope as you'll be removing targets from Home One. U-Wing Reinforcement and Timely Reinforcements both allow us to bolster a small army as we exit the midgame and solidify our position on the board. Our removal is a little lacking in the unit department with just Ackbar, so we support him with Fell the Dragon, Takedown, and Rival's Fall. These choices feel a little too diverse and with so many cards it's hard to rely on getting a particular one but these feel easy enough to also switch out with Direct Hit in the right matchups.
All together Rey is a toolbox with smaller utility units that she backs up and leads into battle. In the late game she takes advantage of Tech just like any other Heroic deck will do these days by giving you access to a second hand to smuggle all your resources into play. Stay alive until you can stabilize your board advantage, then start swingin' with your slightly bigger units. Without an opponent's Force Throw your survivability for your smaller units increases ever so slightly, even if some of them still die to Open Fire and Takedown. Thankfully, with the right timing, you can get a lot of them out of that range with Rey's ability.
Next time we'll start looking at meta reports rolling in for the second half of the season, and we'll know how Rey fairs. If you run Rey at your locals good luck and may the Force be with you.
