Hello and I hope your day is going super mega well! I thought it would be fun given the recent influx of Dragon kindred stuff in Tarkir: Dragonstorm to knock out my Top selections for Dragon Commanders. However, I want to keep it budget friendly and just do ones under 10 dollars here at coolstuffinc.com (which excludes things like Tiamat or The Ur-Dragon.

Honorable Mentions

Lozhan, Dragons' Legacy - This flying uncommon five mana 4/2 will turn your Dragons or Adventures into damage equal to their mana value to any target, from players to their stuff!

Zurgo and Ojutai - It's got hexproof the turn it arrives, and then has a Dragon-based combat damage trigger to dig three and then draw one and then stick the rest on the bottom of your library. You can also bounce one of the dragons that dealt damage too!

Firkraag, Cunning Instigator - At $10 exactly, this Izzet colored 5-drop is up next. When your Dragons swing, you can goad! And then when those goaded creatures deal combat damage to your opponents, you draw and then put a +1/+1 counter on Firkraag.

Ganax, Astral Hunter AND Acolyte of Bahamut or Renari, Merchant of Marvels - Ganax asks you to choose a background, and there are two great options! The dork costs five for a 3/4 flyer that has an ETB trigger for all Dragons to ramp you with a Treasure. Acolyte of Bahamut costs two, and gives your Commander the ability to reduce the cost of the first dragon spell you cast per turn by two! The addition of Green to dragons here with ramping. Or you can play Renari instead for Blue/green, and to flash dragons and Artifacts out! But I think that dropping Red will feel weird in a Dragon Kindred brew.

Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund - This mythic in Jund colors cost seven, has an on-curve body of 7/7 with flying, haste and then when it enters you can untap and steal all Dragons permanently. Great stuff, I'm sure you can see why it's here.

Time for the Top 5!

#5. Kaalia of the Vast

This was one of the first legendary leader made for the first slate of Commander brews. This lady has flying, is four mana in Mardu colors for a smaller 2/2 dork, and then an attack trigger to drop one of three types - Angel, Demon or Dragon - for free, attacking that person. Great! But a bit bonkers and broken. But if you just ran this with Dragons and then not the broken Angels too like the Avacyn that gives your stuff indestructible, and Demon, it might feel fairer. I'd still think that Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund above feels fairer though.

#4. Sivitri, Dragon Master

This four-drop Dimir colored planeswalker with four loyalty can be your Commander. Her +1 stops your foes from swinging at you or her unless they pay a 2 life for each one. And then you can -3 her to Dragon Tutor and -7 her to Crux of Fate. Great stuff!

#3. Sarkhan, Soul Aflame

Sarkhan gives your Dragons one mana off and then when they arrive he becomes a copy of them this turn, although he'll keep his name and legendary status. Love that much since it's like your new dragon can swing right away!

#2. Rivaz of the Claw

Our highest scoring Rakdos colored leader is this three-drop on-curve 3/3 with menace that taps for 2 mana for Dragons only! Then on your turns you can cast a Dragon from your graveyard, but if it dies? It gets exiled, but not if you bounce or flicker it first!

#1. Atarka, World Render AND Thrakkus the Butcher

Let's finish with this Gruul colored duo you wanna run in the same brew! The seven-drop has trample, flying and then when your sweet Dragons swing? They get double strike, ouchie! Then when the five-drop 3/4 trampling one swings? Double your precious Dragons power! With double strike? Double Ouchie!
