The Best Planeswalkers that Ramp

Reddit

Hello and happiest of days to each of you! I hope that your day is going as well as possible! Recently, I've been doing deep dives on all things Mana, from my Top Mana Dorks, to Ramp dorks, to Wild Growths, Ramp Spells, Mana Rocks, Landcyclers, and Lay of the Lands.

Ever since the first set with Planeswalkers debuted (including Garruk with his ability to untap two lands with a +1), they've ramped by making mana outright, to untapping stuff, to ramping lands out or to our hands. All told, there are around 52 planeswalkers that give some kind of mana advantage! So, let's take a look at some of the best options!

Honorable Mentions

Garruk Wildspeaker
Teferi, Who Slows the Sunset
Teferi, Temporal Archmage

'Walkers that Untap Two or More Lands - This slate of 'Walkers all untap two lands or other things for mana or minus for more. Garruk Wildspeaker can also -1 to make 3/3 Beast, Teferi, Who Slows the Sunset can +1 to untap a land, rock and dork, or tap your foe's, or -2 to dig three and draw. Teferi, Temporal Archmage can +1 to draw and -1 to untap four things, and he's nasty in brews with cards like Stasis and Winter Orb.

Narset of the Ancient Way

Narset of the Ancient Way - Narset can +1 for two life and a mana in her colors for noncreature spells. Then you can -2 her to draw and you can discard to ping a permanent equal to that card's cost.

Xenagos, the Reveler

Xenagos, the Reveler - Xenagos rewards you for going wide like Gaea's Cradle. With his three loyalty, you can +1 him to make a red or green mana for each of our creatures. You can spend that mana you cast more and more creatures and get more and more mana for more stuff until you kill with dorks and Overruns or Burn spells. You can also 0 him to make a 2/2 hasted Satyr!

Sarkhan Unbroken

Sarkhan Unbroken - Sarkhan Unbroken can +1 to draw and also make a mana of any color. Then you can -2 him to make a 4/4 flying Dragon too. Embrace your inner Sarkhan!

Teferi, Hero of Dominaria

Teferi, Hero of Dominaria - This Teferi can +1 to draw and then untap two lands EOT for keeping answers open. Then you can -3 him to tuck any non-land three cards down.

Domri, Anarch of Bolas

Domri, Anarch of Bolas - Domri pumps all your creatures power by one as a static. It's here to +1 to make mana and then any creatures we cast this turn cannot be countered. Wow that's nasty. Then you can -2 to Fight as removal!

Top 5!

5. Wrenn and Seven

Wrenn and Seven

Wrenn and Seven can +1 to dig four and draw all the lands. Then you can 0 them to drop all lands tapped from our hand. Then -3 them to make a Treefolk token with P/T equal to your land count.

4. Tezzeret the Seeker

Tezzeret the Seeker

Tezzeret the Seeker can +1 to untap two artifacts, like Mana Rocks or Myr or artifact lands. What really makes him dominate though is that -X to fetch out an artifact to the battlefield at that cost. You can -1 to get a Sol Ring or -0 for an artifact land to untap. That's why it's here, but don't sleep on that very easy ultimate to win.

3. Chandra, Hope's Beacon

Chandra, Hope's Beacon

I feel like in most cases I prefer this Chandra to the next one on my list, but she's here to be flexible. Chandra, Hope's Beacon has a static to copy our first spell we cast each turn. Then she can +2 to make mana of any color for anything, and then also +1 her to exile and cast spells from our library, and then -X to deal X damage to two targets.

2. Chandra, Torch of Defiance

Chandra, Torch of Defiance

This four-drop, four-ability and four loyalty planeswalker is next. You can +1 her to Impulse draw the top card for casting, and then if you don't cast it, you Shock all foes. Then you can +1 her to make two Red mana, then -3 her to Lightning Blast a creature!

1. Nissa, Who Shakes the World

Nissa, Who Shakes the World

Nissa, Who Shakes the World is at the top of our list! Her static ability alone is bonkers, letting our Forests tap for an extra Green mana, and with Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth that can be all of your lands. Then you can +1 her to untap a land and make it a 3/3 with vigilance and haste to swing and then hold back for blocking.

And there we go! What did you think about my Top Ramping Planeswalkers? You could also consider Liliana of the Dark Realms or Koth of the Hammer here. Domri, Chaos Bringer can make mana and give the creature you cast with it riot? All good options! I hope you enjoy the list!
