MagicCon Las Vegas Happening Now

MagicCon Las Vegas is kicking off right as this article goes live! Magic fans from around the world are gathering together for one of the most celebrated MTG events of the year, packed to the brim with events, panels, artist and creator appearances, and so much more. The preview panel is one of the biggest draws, with an early look at sets like Edge of Eternities taking place earlier today.

Additionally, this weekend is the return to the Pro Tour once again, with some of Magic's top players gathering together to play for the coveted trophy. The Standard field is absolutely dominated by the presence of Izzet Prowess with the popular deck clocking in at a whopping 42.3% of the metagame. Rounding out the top spots are Azorius Omniscience and Mono-Red Aggro, with several other archetypes showing up in significantly smaller numbers from there. The excitement takes place all weekend, so make sure you tune into the Magic Twitch page and catch all the action!
MaRo Asks For State of Design Feedback
Every year, Mark Rosewater releases the popular State of Design articles. He's been doing this following the last release of an annual cycle every year since 2005. With his 2025 article due soon, he's asking for feedback on social media for each set of the last year. Here are each of the links on Bluesky, though you may be able to find him asking these questions on other places as well (such as Tumblr, which he links to on Bluesky):
- Bloomburrow
- Duskmourn: House of Horror
- Foundations
- Aetherdrift
- Tarkir: Dragonstorm
- Magic: the Gathering - Final Fantasy
Given past State of Design articles, it's likely that we'll see the results of this feedback sometime in either July or August. Keep your eyes peeled on DailyMTG.com to watch for Wizards to unveil it!
New Secret Lair Bundles Revealed
This week, an email was sent out to many Magic: The Gathering fans' inboxes regarding the Secret Lair website. In addition to the NALAC charity drop landing this week (with a higher price tag than expected, frustrating many fans), a new batch of bundles were revealed. These bundles include several older Secret Lair drops that have remained on the website for some time unsold, providing Magic players with an opportunity to get several at once at a discount. How these will fare remains to be seen, but if you'd like to check out the offerings - as well as get in on the NALAC lair - you can check out the website here.

- 4 Leyline Binding
- 4 Leyline of the Guildpact
Domain Zoo has been a pretty popular Modern deck for quite some time. It's a fairly straightforward aggro deck that utilizes the combination of Leyline of the Guildpact with Scion of Draco for powerful early starts. Lately the deck has been seeing a bit of a resurgence, with players realizing something fun: playing Consign to Memory in your main deck to stop your own Phlage sacrifice triggers. That's to say nothing of the utility for stopping decks like Eldrazi cold, making for a great innovation on the deck. This list is only playing one in the main deck, but many lists have seen markedly higher numbers showing up, going so far as to cut longtime mainstays like Tribal Flames to make room for it.
