Hello and happiest of days to each of you! I hope that your day is going as well as well as possible and that you are looking at a fun weekend of gaming goodness! Today is my fourth Article of Good Cards from the aforementioned Edge of Eternities for all kitchen table and casual play - ideally multiplayer and Commander first, and then Highlander, Five Color, Type Four, Peasant and more! My first article was here, the second one is here, and the third is here. My Spacecraft list is here.
Remember this is the base set first since they are making cards for casual play in the Commander brews so that'll be next. Ready? This is our last week, by the by, so next week is Commander.
Let's get this party a-started!
Honorable Menton #1. (#23. Overall) - Chrome Companion
This cute lil' pupper is first! It's got a great 2/1 two mana colorless dork artifact size. When it's tapped you can gain life and then tap it with two to reload a card from anyone's library to the bottom of their library! This is great to return to your library right before tutoring or just against graveyard exiling to save it. You can also use it against your foe's Zombifying their dork, just tuck it instead. It's great in both roles and I ran it in deck to trigger my Tevals and then reload my stuff 5 Color deck right here - (https://www.coolstuffinc.com/a/abesargent-08052025-two-generations-collide-five-color-graveyard-manipulation-and-recursion-with-kenrith)
Honorable Menton #2. (#22. Overall) - The Two ETB with a Lander On-Curve Dorks
This Green two-set will ETB with the size equal to their mana cost and then a Lander too for the ramping good times! The Bear does so in Simic and then adds a mana sink 8 mana activation for drawing two and then making a tapped dork. Then the other is a totally worth it three-drop in Green alone and then with the Landering for the same cost as Civic Wayfinder in a bigger body and then the land heads to your hand there but this is ramp.
Honorable Menton #3. (#21. Overall) - Survey Mechan
This four-drop colorless artifact dork with cannot be targeted with hexproof, flying too and then a smaller size at 1/3. Then you mana sink here too 10 to sac it and then Bolt something, draw three, and then gain three too! And that costs less for your differently named land count, great! Love that much in Type Four with infinite mana.
#20. Interceptor Mechan
One of my favorite subtle cheap common cards that cost four in Black was Gravedigger for tons of places. Every deck needs creatures to survive and then win too! Right? This four-drop uncommon in Rakdos has the same size in 2/2 for Meekstone need and then adds flying to chump block flyers or swing in the air and then on arrival can also bring back that artifact too! Then it can get bigger each EOT if you trigger Void and then grows over time!
#19. Eusocial Engineering
This fun five-drop uncommon landfall Green enchantment is next! It also has warp for two and then the landfall makes a 2/2 Robot artifact dork. Great since often these make 1/1 dorks. Embrace your inner landfall and Robot lover with this fun thang.
#18. Alpharael, Dreaming Acolyte
This fun three-drop uncommon Simic legendary dork is next with an okay 2/3 size. Then on your turn it has deathtouch so you can often swing unblockably at people's faces since they don't wanna lose their dork. It's here for that ETB to draw two and then discard two too, unless you discarded an artifact! Great for digging, dropping them into your graveyard for recursion for Academy Ruins and then be up a card too. Love this much on a stick.
#17. Scrounge for Eternity AND Scout for Survivors
Everyone loves Reanimation Spells especially ones that are cheap on the mana with restrictions like the power reducing and destroyable two-cost Animate Dead or the massive life loss of Reanimate. Then this costs three and then brings back any dork with a cheaper cost at five or fewer or Spacecraft too and then makes you a ramping Lander too, but you need to sacrifice something of the artifact (might I suggest tokens like Treasures) or dork (ditto like Robots or Zombies) persuasion! It's worth it for the recursion and then ramping too so it's two for one for very cheap. Then the White three-cost sorcery can return up three-dorks but just a total cost of three total, so if you wanna bring that back you'll need just three one-drops like Mother of Runes or Llanowar Elves - possible! But more likely in aggro or weird brews like Soul Sisters.
#16. Broodguard Elite
Everyone adores the X spell game winning mana-sinking dork! Here we have that with this Green uncommon which has warp and then a leaves play trigger not a death one to send its counters to a friend. That'll work with warp too. It's sexy-keen since you can load it up with counters and then they will still be used elsewhere so tap out freely and do warp it too!
#15. Honored Knight-Captain
This fun two-drop 1/1 ETB make another Soldier with a 1/1 size is next! Great for tokens. Then you can sac it for six mana but not tap it to Tutor and drop an Equipment to the battlefield, like half of a Tooth and Nail - great in the very popular Equipment brews too. Great crossover that can really put in the work!
#14. Faller's Faithful
Ever since ETB stuff arrived Nekrataals have been loved, but they cost four and then are two Black to shut down interaction like Ravenous Chupacabra, this just costs three splashable and it is 3/1 size. Now kill anything you wish! But if they didn't take damage then they'll draw two - fine by me! Worth it!
#13. Haliya, Ascendant Cadet
I adore the card drawing potential of this Selesnya take on Bident of Thassa! When she attacks or ETBs you can toss a +1/+1 counter on your dork, and then encountered stuff triggers the Bident effect. She's also legendary for Commander purposes, but do note that her ability only works once per damage dealt no matter how many punched face with that "or more" language there. But hey, good is good. Get her and then run her all over the block!
#12. Zookeeper Mechan
This fun two-drop bigger butted 1/3 for blocking and then tapping for Red mana artifact dork is next! You can spend seven mana over and over again at sorcery speed to make your dork +4 power that turn as a win-con mana sink. With that bigger butt, this is a better mana ramper than the Myrs. Get it and then get your ramp on, Donkey Kong!
#11. Decode Transmissions AND Hymn of the Faller
In addition to ramp above, one things that also matters in casual land is card draw. We need it. Enter the next five cards. This sorcery Black void matters duo are next. The three-cost common will Sign in Blood you and then with void your foes lose the life instead of you! Then the two-cost uncommon will surveil one and then draw one and then lose life but voided you get two a better Sign in Blood.
#10. Melded Moxite
This two-drop common Red artifact only is next. When it enters you can discard and then draw two, note that's may and then sac with three to make a 2/2 tapped Robot. I really love that with recursion stuff from the graveyard like Goblin Welder or to sac as fodder after arriving and then doing what we want to it. Love this subtle little thang all up and down the block!
#9. Quantum Riddler AND Codecracker Hound
Next up are these cantripping Blue dorks that are better with additional abilities the last of my mini-card draw excursion. The five-drop with warp two Mulldrifter costing flyer has the cantrip and then a beefy 4/6 size and then if you would draw with one or zero cards, draw two instead. I am sure you can see why it's here! Then the uncommon costs three for a 2/1 size and warp too with an ETB ability you can get twice to dig two, draw one and bin the other. Nasty good combo in all of the places!
#8. Thrumming Hivepool
Everyone's favorite tribe ever is Slivers! This colorless six-drop artifact has their affinity and can be easily cast. Then in your upkeep you make two tokens! Then the entire tribe has haste and double strike too! On a colorless one that makes two a turn??? Nasty! It's not even legendary so you can drop all of them! Get them for all of your Sliver needs. Embrace your Inner Sliver here!
#7. Biosynthic Burst AND Dual-Sun Technique
Welcome to this two combat trick duo for two mana at instant speed. The Green common tosses a counter on your dork, it gains reach and untaps to chump block a flyer outta nowhere and then evasion in trample and then indestructible to save it from anything. Then the White one uncommon will give your thing double strike and draw if it's encountered. Love that player kill outta nowhere and they work well since trample with double strike will hit a player twice even if blocked in the first strike step and killed there and you'll draw too. I alerady tossed the first into a Selesnya Commander brew +1/+1 counter and mana sink combo for you all!
#6. Nova Hellkite
Every set seems to have a fun five or four-drop red Dragon! This set's is with a nice haste, flying and good size at 4/5 and warp for three. It does have a smaller ETB ability to ping one dork. That's not bad and there are many 1 toughness things you can kill at the causal table like Llanowar Elves, Esper Sentinel, Mother of Runes or Soul Warden. But is the five-mana spot where you want to be dropping it? I'd prefer it also shot all dorks a foe or you didn't control or just one dork for more to be a real answer. That's why it's back here at the fourth list for me.
#5. Biotech Specialist
This two-drop Gruul 1/3 rare is next! This Scientist arrives with a Lander and then when you sac any artifact you'll Shock one foe! Note that's just one like Blood Artist but still good for the win-con and then there are no non-token restrictions so toss this into your Treasures and Food and Clues.
#4. Sunstar Expansionist
This fun two-drop uncommon better than curve size at 2/3 has a great ETB to get a Lander if you have fewer lands. Then it's also got a power pumping landfall to rally from being down lands. What more could you expect from a two-drop in White? Right?
#3. Glacier Godmaw
Our third spot is this win-con also with landfall on a Lander maker. It costs seven in Green for a 6/6 with trample and then the landfall pumps our team for the turn and then also vigilance and haste too! Love that last little bit so much - embrace it! Get your win on with everything save trample save it, but in Green? That's all about ramp too!
#2. Requiem Monolith
Hello Black card draw fans! I've got your next mono-Black three-drop artifact card draw machine here! At sorcery speed tap this for no mana to make your dork convert all damage it would take into card draw and life loss too. I adore this with the inflated life totals with 40 in Commander here. It's great to swing and then no person will block. You can also do one for one cad there. Add Lure to make them! Then you can really break this with damage-based sweepers. You can refill your hand after losing your stuff with a Blasphemous Act! You didn't spend mana here or with the Act either just one or two likely, draw 13 and have tons of mana available to drop lands and cast those spells. I also adore this with pingers like Kamahl or Stuffy Doll and then Flametongue Kavu or Ghitu Slinger on your stuff!
#1. Bioengineered Future
Our final card on our final countdown! A bittersweet dirge is sung. (I know the phrase is "melody" but "dirge" fits the concept better). This three-drop Green rare enchantment will play us out! Then when it arrives make a ramping Lander! Then you can have each dork you arrive after you've dropped those sweet lands with an extra counter per land dropped! That's just so good for so many brews and note a few things here. First that it works for tokens too that arrive, so if you cast with threshold Grizzly Fate with four 2/2s Bears? If you've dropped two lands, they'll now be four 4/4s! This rewards going wide not tall, so the more and cheaper your stuff is the better you'll be here! Great for aggro, landfall, tokens, +1/+1 counter decks all of those are mega-popular in multiplayer so grab this last entry and then add it to like half of your Green decks moving forward!
There we go! I hope that you enjoyed this final check-in with our base Edge of Eternities set for casual play at card stores and kitchen tables both! Play some tonight and then this weekend! Next week is the new Commander from this brews many of which have great new cards, so check it out!
